What is Hep?
The word hep was coined back in the 20s. It means "with it", or "in the know". The phrase "hep to the jive" was used to describe "knows about dancing". It was also used by the late Cab Calloway in his album Are You Hep to the Jive?
Hep the CMS
Originally, I wanted to develop my own CMS because
- I needed a simple system to use
- I wanted to learn the CakePHP framework
- I wanted to create a system that was completely different from the one I work on at my real job.

Originally released in 1945, Cab Calloway's album was a testament to Cab's ability to adjust his style to accommodate the changing musical tastes of the era.
